Molecular phylogenetics of subfamily Urgineoideae (Hyacinthaceae): Toward a coherent generic circumscription informed by molecular, morphological, and distributional data

چکیده
The taxonomy and systematics of Urgineoideae (Hyacinthaceae) have been controversial in recent decades, with contrasting taxonomic treatments proposed based on preliminary partial studies that focused morphology and/or solely plastid DNA sequence data. Some authors recognized only two genera, a very broadly conceived Drimia, while others accepted several genera that, although better defined morphologically, were doubtfully monophyletic. Here, we present phylogenetic analyses involving four regions (trnL intron, trnL-F spacer, matK, the trnCGCA-ycf6 intergenic region), nuclear region (Agt1), selection 40 morphological characters. Our study covers 293 samples ca. 160 species (ca. 80% its global diversity). Bayesian inference, maximum likelihood, parsimony performed to derive patterns. combination data yielded trees 31 well-defined clades or lineages, most corresponding previously described some required description revised circumscription. As other monocot families, considerable degree homoplasy was observed characters, especially those groups unspecialized flowers; nonetheless, consistent syndromes traditional novel characters are shown support clade recognition at genus rank. forthcoming classification is outlined here.

Morphological and molecular convergences in mammalian phylogenetics
Phylogenetic trees reconstructed from molecular sequences are often considered more reliable than those reconstructed from morphological characters, in part because convergent evolution, which confounds phylogenetic reconstruction, is believed to be rarer for molecular sequences than for morphologies. However, neither the validity of this belief nor its underlying cause is known. Here comparing...

Molecular phylogenetics of subfamily Calamoideae (Palmae) based on nrDNA ITS and cpDNA rps16 intron sequence data.
Phylogenetic relationships among the 22 genera of the palm subfamily Calamoideae were investigated using DNA sequence data from the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the chloroplast rps16 intron. The rps16 intron displayed low levels of variation, corroborating previous reports that the chloroplast genome of palms is highly conserved. High levels of within-individua...

In order to compare the efficiency of morphological traits and molecular markers in distinguishing the Consolida species, molecular analysis using nrDNA ITS and cpDNA trnL-trnF with maximum parsimony and Bayesian methods were done in a total of 34 species and forma representing 28 species of Consolida, 6 species of Aconitella, plus two species of Delphinium and two species of Aconitum as out gr...
متن کاملCircumscription and phylogeny of the Laurales: evidence from molecular and morphological data.
The order Laurales comprises a few indisputed core constituents, namely Gomortegaceae, Hernandiaceae, Lauraceae, and Monimiaceae sensu lato, and an equal number of families that have recently been included in, or excluded from, the order, namely Amborellaceae, Calycanthaceae, Chloranthaceae, Idiospermaceae, and Trimeniaceae. In addition, the circumscription of the second largest family in the o...
